A loop hole in the law means that some workshops use a cheaper gas and not the gas that was originally in your car. Your air con system was not designed for the cheaper gas and could potentially damage your system, it can also put you and your passengers at risk as it has a flammable content to it.
What's important to remember is that our team at The Engine Bay are regulated by Arctick (AU27734). We have licensed technicians and our workshop is audited every two years to ensure we comply with the regulations.
Another important point to mention is that the refrigerant gas used in our air con systems can cause damage to the ozone layer if it escapes. Our workshop has the specialised equipment to ensure we adhere to the strict regulations, ensuring we do our part to look after the planet.
Lastly, the gas in your system continually rotates and therefore it should not lose gas unless there is a leak in your system. By law, the leak needs to be fixed before your system is re-gassed.
